A Level company - serving Dallas, TX

DuraFlex Chimney Cap & Crown Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

DuraFlex Chimney Cap & Crown in Dallas: What to Know First

We provide independent DuraFlex chimney cap and crown service across Dallas, from Lakewood to Lake Highlands and down to Oak Cliff. Most DuraFlex cap replacements and crown repairs are quoted in writing during the first visit and completed within a week, with same-day scheduling available when weather threatens. We don’t start work until you’ve seen a written price, a written scope, and a written warranty - that’s Haven Standard Clause 1, and it’s how we’ve operated since 2009.

Call (972) 284-1392

This page is for Dallas homeowners who know they’ve got DuraFlex components on their chimney and want a tech who can name the series without squinting at the label. If you’re seeing rust streaks, water in the firebox, or a crown that looks like cracked pottery after another Texas summer, call (972) 284-1392. Estimates are free, and we bring the camera on every visit.

How DuraFlex Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • DuraFlex SW 304/316 cap separation at the storm collar weld. The SW series stainless caps use a spot-welded storm collar that fatigues faster than the continuous-seam bodies. In Dallas, the thermal swing from 105°F August afternoons to 35°F January nights works that weld until it weeps. We cut the collar off, fit a replacement from our Haven buying network, and seal with Furno-brand high-temp silicone rated to 500°F - not generic RTV that’ll cook off by March.
  • DuraFlex DVL double-wall cap interior liner collapse. The DVL’s inner wall is a separate sleeve that can detach if the cap takes impact from a branch or if corrosion starts at the male-female joint. We find this with the camera looking down from the top, not guessing from the hearth. When the inner sleeve has shifted, we replace with OEM DVL cap assembly or, if the flue geometry allows, a quality aftermarket equivalent from Olympia Chimney with the same 1-inch air gap spec.
  • DuraFlex relining cap mortar degradation on crown-mounted installs. DuraFlex relining jobs often terminate with a top plate and cap seated in fresh mortar on the existing crown. That mortar is standard Type S, and in Dallas it dries fast, shrinks, and pulls away from the flue tile within three to five years. We remove the loose mortar, inspect the crown substrate for spalling, and re-bed with CrownSeal elastomeric coating or full crown pour if the structural crack depth exceeds half an inch.
  • Multi-flue DuraFlex cap sizing errors on 1980s Dallas tract homes. Builders in neighborhoods like Richardson and Garland often squeezed two flues into a chase meant for one oversized cap. The DuraFlex multi-flue caps come in stock widths, but the stock 13×18 won’t cover a 10-inch flue pair with proper overhang. We measure chase width, flue spacing, and roof pitch, then source custom-width caps through Famco or fabricate from 24-gauge galvanized with stainless mesh - whatever gets the 5-inch minimum overhang NFPA 211 wants.
  • DuraFlex Pro cap mesh corrosion from Dallas-area creosote + humidity. The Pro series uses a finer 5/8-inch mesh that clogs faster with Class II and III creosote, then holds moisture against the frame. We’ve pulled Pro caps in Bluff View where the mesh was perforated through in eighteen months. We clean the flue to bare liner first, then replace with Gelco’s 304 stainless 3/4-inch mesh cap or upsize to the DuraFlex SW if the customer burns oak and hickory hard all winter.

Our DuraFlex Chimney Cap & Crown Process

Our DuraFlex Chimney Cap & Crown Process
  1. 1
Call and schedule. A live person answers, checks Corrine’s calendar or assigns a named tech, and sends a text when they’re en route. No voicemail, no “we’ll call you back.”
  2. 2
Camera goes in first. Everything else follows. NFPA 211 Level 2 inspection with full photo documentation - flue liner condition, smoke chamber, crown integrity, cap attachment points. Clause 4 of the Haven Standard requires this record on every job; we’ve done it since 2009.
  3. 3
Written price, written scope, written warranty. Before any tool comes out of the truck, you get a flat price for the DuraFlex work, what parts we’re using (OEM or aftermarket, with the trade-off explained), and what the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers. Haven Standard Clause 1: have it in writing.
  4. 4
Parts procurement through Haven buying network. We source DuraFlex, HeatShield, Gelco, Olympia Chimney, Famco, and Copperfield materials at volume pricing - passed through to you, not marked up to “what the market will bear.”
  5. 5
Repair and real-time documentation. Crown work gets before/after photos. Cap installs get torque spec on fasteners and sealant bead photos. You see what we did, not just what we say we did.
  6. 6
Final camera pass and archive. We run the camera again post-repair to confirm clear flue, proper draft, and no debris drop. Your photo record goes into our archive and yours, with a written completion summary.

Why Dallas Homeowners Call Level Two Chimney Dallas for DuraFlex Work

Why Dallas Homeowners Call Level Two Chimney Dallas for DuraFlex Work

We’ve completed more than 38,000 chimney inspections and cleanings since 2009, and a growing share of our cap and crown work is DuraFlex because Dallas’s 2015-2020 building boom used a lot of it. Corrine Halstead and our crew know the difference between a DVL and an SW cap without reading the stamp, and we stock common sizes because waiting two weeks for a part in Texas thunderstorm season is how water gets into your walls.

We’re independently owned and operated, not a franchise, and we back every job with the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it’s not right, we make it right. Free Second Opinion on any competitor’s written estimate - bring us their quote and we’ll tell you straight if it’s accurate or if they’re selling you a liner you don’t need. Our techs are background-checked, uniformed, and licensed; you get their name before they arrive and a text when they’re on the way.

We also service HeatShield and Gelco systems, so if your DuraFlex cap sits on a HeatShield-coated crown or a Gelco chase cover, we don’t need two contractors. One call, one crew, one written price.
